There are a lot of ways to see Dubai & do Dubai city tour, and every one of them is priced a little differently. The cost of a Dubai sightseeing tour mostly comes down to two things: whether you share the car with other travellers or have it to yourselves, and what kind of vehicle it is. A seven-seater and a 4x4 or limousine on the same route can be very different prices.
Below, we break down what each option really costs, what you get for the money, and what a family should budget once attraction tickets are added. We've also been honest about the one option we'd tell most people to skip.
Shared Dubai city tour price per person
On a shared tour, you join other travellers in one vehicle and follow a set route. It's the cheapest way to see the main sights, and it's priced per seat.
Half day Dubai trip
Price per person: AED 80 – 120
A half day tour runs about four to five hours. You'll usually see the outside of the Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Mosque, the Dubai Frame from the road, Al Fahidi old quarter, an abra ride across the creek, and a quick stop at the gold and spice souks.
Full day Dubai city tour
Price per person: AED 120 – 250
A full day adds the modern side of the city: Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis, and time at Dubai Mall and the Burj Khalifa area. The price range depends mostly on the vehicle and the group size.
Private Dubai city tour price
On a private tour, the car and driver are just for your group. You pay one price for the vehicle, not per person, so the more of you there are, the cheaper it gets per head.
Half day, for the whole car
AED 550 – 1,000
About five hours, picked up from your hotel or home. The lower end is a comfortable seven-seater; the higher end is a larger van, a 4x4 or a luxury car.
Full day Dubai trip cost
AED 850 – 1,500
Eight to nine hours, with time to stop where you like, take your lunch break when you want, and stay longer at the places you enjoy.
For a group of four, a private half day at AED 550 works out to about AED 138 each. That's close to a shared full day seat, but with the car to yourselves.
Does the price change what's included?
No. A higher price doesn't buy you a longer list of inclusions. What's included depends on the type of tour: half day or full day, shared or private.
What a higher price usually pays for is the vehicle (a 4x4 or limousine instead of a standard car), a smaller group, or more flexible timing. So when you compare two quotes, look at the hours, the stops and the car, not just the number at the bottom.

Why we don't run half day shared tours
Half day shared tours are offered in Dubai by some companies and freelance drivers, usually from around AED 80 per person. We decided not to run them, and here's the honest reason.
A shared half day is only four to five hours long. The van has to collect everyone from different hotels first, and on a busy morning that alone can take an hour or more. Then the same happens at the end. By the time you reach the sights, there's very little time left at each stop, and guests often tell us they spent more time in traffic than in the places they came to see.
We'd rather not sell a tour we know usually ends in disappointment. So for a half day, we only run private tours, where pickup is just your group and all the time goes on Dubai. For everything else, including full day city tours, Abu Dhabi city tours, desert safaris, group tours and yacht trips, we offer both shared and private options.
Do city tour prices cover attraction tickets?
No. A Dubai city tour price normally covers three things: the car, the driver, and the drive between tourist spots, with pickup and drop-off at your hotel or home. You see most landmarks from outside, with photo stops.
Entry tickets for attractions like the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Aquarium, the Dubai Frame or Museum of the Future are paid separately. If a very cheap tour claims to include them, check carefully what's actually included before you pay.
Dubai city tour price with a Burj Khalifa ticket
The Burj Khalifa observation deck, called At the Top, charges more during "prime hours", roughly 3 pm to 9 pm, when sunset views are best.

Adding the Burj Khalifa really only works on a private tour. A visit takes about an hour and a half with queues and the lift, and tickets are booked for a fixed time slot. A shared tour can't wait for one family's time slot, so we plan the day around it on private tours only.
Ticket prices change from time to time, so we confirm the current price when you book.
Dubai city tour price with Dubai Aquarium
The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is inside Dubai Mall, right next to the Burj Khalifa, so the two pair well.

The aquarium takes two to three hours if you see the Underwater Zoo too, which is why this only fits a private tour. On a half day, it's best as the last stop, so you can stay in Dubai Mall afterwards and take a taxi back. Some families also go for a Burj Khalifa and aquarium combo ticket, which costs less than buying both separately.
Shared tour or private tour?
If you can, go private. It's the option we recommend most, and for families or groups of three or more it often costs about the same per person as a shared seat.
If your days in Dubai are flexible, a full day private tour is the most relaxed way to see the city. You get the old and new sides of Dubai without rushing, time for lunch, and the option to add the Burj Khalifa or the aquarium.
If you're on a tight budget and travelling solo or as a couple, a full day shared tour is a fair choice. The one tour we'd honestly steer you away from is the half day shared tour. Between pickups and drop-offs, there's too little time left at each stop, and most people come back feeling they missed out.

For most families, the half day private tour without tickets is the best value: the car to yourselves for less than a full day of shared seats. If the Burj Khalifa is on your list, add it, but book a non-prime slot unless the sunset view really matters to you. It saves about AED 250 for a family of four.
